The current park covers an area of 16 hectares: its original nucleus dates back to the early 18th century, when the current castle was built. At the time, the property of the Benso family included some cottages, the chapel of the Madonna delle Nevi (later moved to a neighboring place), the farmhouse called the "Margheria" with the vineyard and - in front of the castle - a garden organized in four delimited parterres from hedges and flower borders. Between the garden and the vineyard ran a branch of the Banna stream, the Rio Santena Vecchia or Santenassa.
